Gavin Baskerville has been performing stand-up comedy professionally for over ten years, after launching onto the scene as a Raw Comedy national finalist in 1999.

His career has seen him perform around the country alongside Australia’s best known comedians and has become a well respected act in his own right.

He has written, produced and performed five successful Melbourne International Comedy Festival shows and was a recipient of  the Brian McCarthy Memorial Moosehead Award for his 2005 show As Seen on TV.

Gavin is an experienced MC, support act and feature performer. His style is described as “laconic and likeable” and he will “make you laugh twice as hard as you thought possible”.

Originally from Perth, Gavin spent five years as a comedian in Melbourne before moving to Hobart for a bit of a sea change. Gavin is helping to build Hobart’s growing comedy scene while also focusing on writing and developing new projects. He is a regular guest on Andy Muirhead's ABC Breakfast radio show as part of The Week that Was  and has also appeared as the Hobart correspondent for Network 10's 7PM Project

In July 2007 Gavin started Hobart's first weekly comedy night, Impro Vice which became an instant hit and paved the way for other regular live comedy shows in Hobart. He also runs a stand-up comedy course for Adult Education and workshops to help encourage new comedy talent.

In the June 16th 2008 issue of Zoo Weekly, two of Gavin's jokes were included in a list of 101 best stand-up gags.
