Gavin Baskerville has been performing stand-up comedy professionally for eight years, after launching onto the scene as a Raw Comedy national finalist in 1999.

His career has seen him perform around the country alongside Australia’s best known comedians and has become a well respected act in his own right.

He has written, produced and performed five successful Melbourne International Comedy Festival shows and was a recipient of  the Brian McCarthy Memorial Moosehead Award for his 2005 show As Seen on TV. His most recent outing was the successful and uplifting show  “Happy” in 2007. Gavin plans to return to the comedy festival in 2009 to mark 10 years in the stand-up comedy industry.

Gavin is an experienced MC, support act and feature performer. His style is described as “laconic and likeable” and he will “make you laugh twice as hard as you thought possible”.

Now residing in Tasmania, Gavin is helping to build Hobart’s growing comedy scene while also focussing on writing and developing new projects.

In July 2007 Gavin started Hobart's first weekly comedy night, Impro Vice which has become an instant hit. He also runs a stand-up comedy course for Adult Education to help encourage new comedy talent.

Gavin will be appearing at the Melbourne International  Comedy Festival for 4 nights only, April 7 - 12 at Three Degrees, QV Square as part of Stand-Up Double Feature with Sandy Gandhi.
